In June 2022, the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) Nigeria embarked on a historic mission to Uganda, coinciding with the annual pilgrimage to commemorate St. Charles Lwanga and companions.

Beyond participating in the pilgrimage, FECAMDS Nigeria’s primary objective was to establish a FECAMDS chapter in Uganda. This goal was successfully achieved at Makerere University, where Nigerian representatives engaged with medical students, introducing them to FECAMDS’ mission and values.

The students were receptive and welcoming, paving the way for FECAMDS’ establishment in the university. This milestone marked the expansion of FECAMDS’ presence in Africa, with Ugandan medical students joining the FECAMDS family.

The establishment of FECAMDS in Uganda was accomplished under the leadership of:
– Dr. Udu Gabriel (National President)
– Dr. Anayo Adaobi (National General Secretary)
Both leaders were students at the time, demonstrating the organization’s commitment to youth empowerment and leadership development.
