National Convention – EDIFIAK NDIBEDE ’25

29th ANNUAL NATIONAL CONVENTION

The 29th Annual National Convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) Nigeria, themed “EDIFIAK NDIBEDE” (Restoration), was successfully held in Calabar from 28th to 31st August 2025.

The convention brought together FECAMDSites from across the nation in a peaceful, vibrant, and spiritually uplifting atmosphere, with no adverse incidents recorded, making it a truly successful and fulfilling gathering.

Arrival and Opening

Participants arrived and were duly accredited, with accommodations assigned in an organized manner. The atmosphere was lively as members reconnected and welcomed new participants.

The convention commenced with the Holy Mass, setting a strong spiritual foundation for the event. This was followed by an uplifting Praise Night, where FECAMDSites gathered in joyful worship, creating a deeply inspiring and unifying experience.

Spiritual Activities

The convention featured rich spiritual engagements, including:

 • Bible Study sessions, where participants reflected deeply on the Word of God and shared insights in groups

 • Holy Mass celebrations, which sustained the spiritual tone of the convention

 • A joyful Thanksgiving, where FECAMDSites expressed gratitude to God for the success of the gathering

These activities fostered spiritual growth, renewal, and deeper faith, aligning perfectly with the theme of Restoration.

Symposium Sessions

A major highlight of the convention was the insightful symposium, featuring distinguished speakers:

 • Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Bekomson –

“Medicare with a Mission: Reclaiming the Sacred Call to Heal”

 • Prof. Charles Njoku –

“Where Have We Been, Where We Are, and Where We Hope to Be”

 • The Department of Anaesthesiology delivered a practical session on

“First to Respond: Basic Life Support Training for Future Lifesavers”

These sessions were highly educative, interactive, and impactful, equipping participants both spiritually and professionally.

Academic Activities (Quiz Competition)

The convention featured an engaging quiz competition, showcasing the academic excellence of participating chapters.

At the end of the contest, FECAMDS AAU emerged as the overall winner, demonstrating outstanding knowledge and teamwork.

Sightseeing Experience

In place of sports, participants embarked on a memorable sightseeing tour within Calabar.

The visit included notable historical locations such as the Slave History Museum Calabar, offering deep reflections on history, heritage, and humanity. The experience was both educational and impactful.

Awards Dinner Night

The Awards Dinner Night was held at

Fr Patrick Corcoran Hall on 30th August at 7:00 PM.

The event featured:

 • Awards of honour and recognition for academics and service

 • Recognition of Patrons, Alumni, and outstanding FECAMDSites

 • Posthumous awards honoring deceased members

 • Dinner with Patrons and Alumni

 • Entertainment and vibrant performances

The night was a resounding success, filled with celebration, unity, and memorable moments.

Conclusion

The 2025 convention was characterized by:

 • Deep spiritual renewal

 • Strong academic engagement

 • Meaningful fellowship and bonding

It truly embodied the theme of Restoration, leaving participants inspired, strengthened, and recommitted to their calling.
