FECAMDS National Rural Outreach 2026
Theme: Care Beyond the Hospital Walls.
Date of the Event: Sunday, 14th June 2026.
Location: St Mark Catholic Church, Ohovbe Quarters, Benin City.
The outreach was designed to fulfil the following critical clinical and humanitarian mandates.
1.To reach out to those in need of health care services in our rural settings.
2.To provide free healthcare to not just the needy in the Catholic church but the community at large.
3.To propagate the catholic faith through the corporal works of mercy.
4.To aid learning among FECAMDSites.
On Saturday, 13th of June, 2026, the national president (Sis Ekenyem Chioma), the national financial secretary (Sis Oboh Saviour), four delegates from FECAMDS AAU and 1 delegate from FECAMDS AE-FUNAI arrived the University of Benin safely. They were welcomed by members of the LOC. Then after, members of FECAMDS UNIBEN with other delegates gathered for introduction of delegates and a pre outreach orientation.
The outreach was held on Sunday, 14th June, 2026, participants arrived at the convergence point and we departed at about 7:30am. We arrived the parish at exactly 9:00am, and the LOC team began setting up the stations for our beneficiaries. Health talks were given to our while setting up for the outreach.
Below is the breakdown of the number of delegates, and their chapters.
FECAMDS UNIBEN – 63 delegates
FECAMDS AE-FUNAI – 2 delegates
FECAMDS AAU – 5 delegates
FECAMDS IUO – 3 delegates
Doctors – 5 doctors
Total number of delegates= 73 (excluding Doctors)
NEB members present include the FECAMDS National President, National Vice President, and the National Fin Secretary
The stations made available in the outreach include;
- Registration/biodata station
- Body mass index (BMI) station
- Blood pressure station
- Blood grouping station
- Random/fasting blood glucose
- Consultation Stations
- Optometry Station
- Dental station
- Drug station
Each of these stations had the station heads and members assisting the station heads appointed to these stations. The station heads were duly rotated at every two hours to prevent cases of fatigue as well as to provide optimum care for our beneficiaries.
Welfare packages were provided for all our volunteers and doctors during the course of this outreach.
The outreach commenced at 9:00am and concluded at 3:00pm. It was really eventful. We attended to a total number of 220 patients including women and children.
Free drugs were made available for the outreach and certificates of participation were given to all our volunteers. The parishioners expressed their gratitude at the end of the outreach.
We want to sincerely thank the Lord Almighty for the success of this outreach. The chaplain of St. Albert Catholic church (Rev Fr. Jude Anara), the parish priest of St. Mark Catholic Church (Very Rev Fr. Jude Ayemwenre), the parish priest of St. Paul Catholic Church (Rev Fr. Charles Omogiate), our donors, the catechist of St. Mark Catholic Church (Mr Patrick Chimekwene), parishioners of St. Mark Catholic Church, doctors, the Local Organising Committee, volunteers, delegates, and all those who in one way or the other contributed to the success of the outreach.
